NWRH now has a fantastic opportunity for a Wellbeing Clinician - Mental Health, to join their team based on Mornington Island, Qld. This role is offered on a full-time, fixed contract basis until 30 June 2018, with the possibility of extension subject to funding

As a Wellbeing Clinician, you will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating discipline specific clinical services and community education activities across Mornington Island, in accordance with organisational and program funding guidelines. This will be achieved by:

  • Providing individuals with information on vocational, relationship, social and educational difficulties and issues;
  • Working with them to identify and define their emotional issues through therapies such as cognitive behaviour therapy, interpersonal therapy and other talking therapies;
  • Investigating, assessing and providing treatment / counselling to foster optimal personal, social, educational and occupational adjustment and development;
  • Assessing the social needs of individuals, families and groups, to assist and empower people to develop and use the skills and resources needed to resolve social and other problems;
  • Using skills and knowledge to further human wellbeing and human rights, social justice and social development; and
  • Assisting health and community groups to improve the health of individuals and the community by raising awareness of healthy lifestyles, disease and disability, and other health-related issues.

About you

To be considered, you will hold a relevant qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or similar. You will have demonstrated experience in providing high quality discipline specific assessment, prevention, treatment and intervention to achieve maximal outcomes for a broad range of clients.

Your high level communication and interpersonal skills, along with knowledge, or the motivation and ability to gain knowledge, of Primary Health Care principles and issues in rural and remote communities will be pivotal to your success. In addition, competency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite will be advantageous.

Some of your work will involve travelling by both road and air to communities distant to Mornington Island, so you must be comfortable with this. A 'C' Class Driver's License is also a requirement of this position.

If successful, you will receive an attractive remuneration circa $77,558 - $95,015 (commensurate with your experience and qualifications) plus super.
