North and West Remote Health Ltd (NWRH) has two opportunities for Registered Nurses to join their aged care team as full-time Facility Managers. One position is based in Normanton and works on a rotation between the facilities in Normanton, Doomadgee or Mornington Island as needed. The other role is based permanently on Mornington island.

As a Facility Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day operations of the relevant Facility, including the delivery of quality care, lifestyle and accommodation for NWRH residents. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring services meet Aged Care Accreditation Standards for residential care and support quality improvement activities. This will be achieved by:

  • Provide nursing care to patients in the aged person’s hostel in line with the Primary Clinical Care Manual, Chronic Disease Guidelines and the Australian Immunisation Handbook;
  • Taking responsibility for maintaining systems and processes that support accreditation standards for the residential aged care service and packaged care;
  • Supporting quality improvement activities; and
  • Developing monthly rosters to ensure adequate coverage is provided for each shift.

About You

NWRH is seeking a Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration and/or the ability to obtain, along with demonstrated experience in a managerial capacity.

Critical to the success of this role will be your adaptability and flexibility, regarding both working hours and approach to work. This hands-on role requires a self-starter who is willing to roll up their sleeves and help out within any area of the facility required - you are the key person responsible for ensuring all facility operations run smoothly.

Your demonstrated ability in the use of systems and frameworks to support the development of sustainable and quality programs will be key to your success. As will your high-level communication skills, enabling you to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders. Ideally, you will have had exposure to not-for-profit operations and use this knowledge to develop effective relationships within the NWRH team and the wider community, however this is not mandatory.

Due to where this role is located, candidates with prior experience working in rural communities and/ or remote locations will also be highly regarded.

Please Note: Some of your work will involve travelling by both road and air to communities distant from Normanton and Mornington Island. As such, you must be able and willing to travel by these means, and hold a current C Class driver's licence. Prior to commencement successful candidates will also need to undertake a Criminal History Check.
